Crescent Commitment to Quality

As an industry partner we understand that your reputation and the success of your business are built on the use of quality products in custom framing. You must be able to trust that the materials surrounding artwork meet the highest standards to protect your customer's art.

As Professional Framers expect, and the Fine Art Trade Guild (FATG) recommends, Crescent regularly tests its matting and mounting products to ensure that quality standards are met and maintained. We are proud to affirm that all statements made by Crescent about the quality of its matting products have been backed by internal and independent laboratory testing.

The following is one example of the testing performed on Crescent products. This test measures the conservation quality of the core and backing material used in Select Fabrics. The full detail of this test is available at www.crescentpro.com/qualitytest.html but here are the key results:

• Alpha Cellulose content must exceed a measure of 84
  • Crescent Average = 87.25 (PASS)
• Must not contain Post Consumer Waste (previously used paper, packaging, etc.)
  • Crescent = None contained Post Consumer Waste (PASS)
• Kappa number (a measure of lignin content in the board) must be less than 5
  • Crescent Average = 0.085 (PASS)
• Product must not contain Optical Brighteners (added to increase whiteness)
  • Crescent = No Optical Brighteners in tested material (PASS)
• pH Level (measure of acid content) must be greater than 7.5. Results below 7 are considered acidic.
  • Crescent Average = 7.66 (PASS)
